Im a college graduate, who wants to work at McDonalds, here is why, what do you think?

So Im a college graduate, B.A. Finance Economics, and Ive been unemployed for a few years, mainly because I quit my last job to change career paths and go to school for something else. I ended up studying a few different things, engineering and art mainly, and I have a deep passion for both.

What I really want to do is pursue art because I am VERY good at it and believe that I can make a career out of that if I press it hard enough, maybe even become famous one day because I have a unique creative style that I haven't really seen anyone do. So, I want to work at McDonalds because I want the freedom of being able to work at night, so that I can do my art in the day. I paint, so it requires a lot of concentration and a clear mind, I feel that a 9-5 job would tire me out too much and I would not be able to paint very well or even paint at all. I dont paint well at night, the lighting sucks, and I just dont have a great work area for it.

SO, I WANT to work a night job, and I feel that a McDonalds job will not stress me out, and it will give me the flexibility I need in order to pursue a career in Art. What I want to do is get an MFA in Painting and then work at a museum or teach college or high school art, but I still need more artwork for my portfolio, and I need the TIME to paint. I can work at night, sleep less hours than I do now, and paint a few hours in the day every day, then back to work, then sleep, get up and paint, and repeat till I achieve what I want.

Problem is, everybody is pushing me to find a 9-5, because thats the "RIGHT" thing to do.

I feel that I am almost being pushed to do something that OTHER people want me to do for STATUS %26amp; money, and not for happiness. I care more about leaving behind a painting legacy than I do about money. Although I did get a B.A., I dont think that will go to complete waste, I feel that will be useful later in life when I need business management skills to sell and market my art.

What do you think?Im a college graduate, who wants to work at McDonalds, here is why, what do you think?
You do NOT want to work at a McDonald's if you're looking for a job that will 'not stress you out'. Working at a fast food restaurant is THE most stressful job you could apply for. If you're working on the counter taking orders, the managers push you to take order quickly to get everybody out. If you're getting the food for the orders on counter, the managers are pushing you to do it quickly to get everybody out and to keep times down. You'll learn more about that if you take the job. If you're handing out in drive-thru, the managers will push you to get everybody out quickly to keep times down. If you're getting the food for drive thru, they push you to go quickly to keep times down.

EVERYTHING is about doing things quicklyquicklyquickly and 'getting that car out of drive thru before they're there more than 20 seconds' kind of fast. If you work in grill, the managers push you to get food out quickly. And if you get the mean managers, they'll do it in the most unpleasant way possibly.

Then there's the customers. Depending on what hours you work, you'll get 8 solid hours of as*sholes from the 9-5, 8 solid hours of as*sholes from the 10-6 and etc. Some of them are polite, yes, but you'll mostly get the people who want their food 5 seconds after they order it and then b*tch at you if their food isn't in front of them in that time frame. Or, you get the people who throw their food at you if you forgot to give them 'hot, fresh fries' or miss one of their precious sauces that they'll just DIE without having, to dip their nuggets in.

Please, if you want to work at a night shift place, do NOT choose McDonalds.Im a college graduate, who wants to work at McDonalds, here is why, what do you think?
It's honestly not a good choice. It doesn't pay well. It IS stressful. If you ever plan to marry, working at a fast food restaurant will not pay for their college tuition. Just make sculptures and sell them like Spencer from iCarly.
You know your happiness. Trust yourself. You know yourself better than they ever will.Im a college graduate, who wants to work at McDonalds, here is why, what do you think?
i think that is a great idea i would do the same exact thing, i hope to see your art someday :)
Its your money and your life. However, you're going to awake and clear in the day after working all night?Im a college graduate, who wants to work at McDonalds, here is why, what do you think?
Do whatever makes you happy! Go ahead! It's your life! : )
i think you should do w/e you feel is right for you. yes, peoples want what's best for you in life, but the choice you want could be the best for you at the moment. there are other places that could possibly work for a night job other then a fast food place; try retirement homes, retail, anything that could also give you a part-time position %26amp; a flexible work schedule. it's all up to you though on what you want to do =)
This sounds like it would make a good movie. You could work at a porn shop too because you won't have to worry about running into people you know. And if you do, they're the embarrassed one. I encourage you to do your art if its what you love. You only live once!
too long to read

but if you think that it's "less stressful" to work in McDonald's, then you're dead wrong! The most stressful and "hard" jobs are many times minimum paid job!!

It's good to chase your dream I encourage you to do so especially if you're still young; but if you think it's easy to work in McDonald's, then you're very wrong
You should get a job that allows you to per sue your dream. One art related, so you could enjoy it. Or, become a full time student at an art school? There you will have plenty of time to expand your portfolio %26amp; what not. The main thing is that you can paint and draw well. I think that would matter more than how many paintings you have done.. Show people what you can do.

Do not work their. Mcdonalds is another american soul sucking heartless corperation bent on turning the countrys population into wage slaves. Mcdonalds will give you very bad pay for part time. Id suggest being a taxi cab driver, night route.
You should follow your dreams. When you die, it is YOUR life that flashes before your eyes, not all these peoples lives who are telling you what to do.

Also, if the prospect of working at McDonald's is scary to you, realize that nothing is forever. Commit to giving it a try. You can always change your mind. Just be respectful of everyone involved, and realize you are free to follow your dreams, even if your dreams change suddenly and often.
