i graduate high school in less than a month, and im worried. since i started school a little early, i wont be 18 until the end of september. i havent been able to get a job since i live in a college town and most of the food places serve alcohol. and its important to me to work in food service since i am trying to become a chef. even with 2 years of culinary arts school (career tech high school), applications, and calling to check up...even mcdonalds hasnt given me an interview. i think a big part of it is that i dont have any work history...but how am i supposed to get that if i cant get work?
moving away from jobs, i want to go to college. i havent applied yet because i wasnt positive what i wanted to do until a few months ago, then had to wait to take my ACTs. now ive done that and should be turning in the application by tomorrow. ive got good grades, some culinary experience, and a pretty good ACT score (27), so i think i have a pretty good chance of being accepted...if they arent too full already. id like to apply for next spring's semester so ive got some time, but i dont know if its enough.
and one more worry...am i going to have any friends left after graduation? sounds silly since ive got a group of good friends. but will any of them even care to keep in touch, or will they just forget all about me and worry about their own lives? i mean im not expecting them to hang out with me 24/7, and if they can get their lives going id be happy for them, but id like to know that they wont completely forget and replace me. even the ones that have already graduated...i feel like they just wont care anymore.
so my questions...do you think i will be able to get a job this summer to save up money? do you think i have a chance at getting into college? and from your own experiences, will i still have friends, or will they just not care any more?Do you think things will be alright for me?
YesDo you think things will be alright for me?
life will change...i have not seen my best friend from high school since 74....she moved to russia and then i went into the US ARMY....i still think of her...she is so busy raising 3 kids and working.
