Give me advice for finding a job in food service?

so i really need a job. im 17 years old. i go to a career tech school for culinary arts and we are currently doing ProStart. that means i need 250 hours of paid work in a food service job. can be anything from mcdonalds to olive garden. ive applied to some places and called back, the places i called pretty much said dont call back, we will call you. my main question is...what would make me stand out on an application? ive done some volunteering with food, have ServeSafe certification, and am pretty experienced compared to some of the people applying for these jobs. sure, its only a two year program, but a lot of people applying to mcdonalds or whatever have no food service experience. what should i write down so it catches the eyes of the employer? and also, is it a big problem that im not 18 and wont be for another 7 months? lots of places in my town serve alcohol since we are a college town. i need this job, and i need it quick. just not sure what im supposed to do to get a job. already applied and called back, nobody has contacted me yet.Give me advice for finding a job in food service?
Frequent the place you want to work Chat with the hostess as you're being seated. DON'T CALL. They are busy and will resent having to talk on the phone. Just make an appearance once a week and check to see if they're hiring yet. Make friends with the people working there. Go in to eat at a 'slow' time so you can chat with your server. Tip good. You'd be surprised how much 'pull' they have.Give me advice for finding a job in food service?
How about a catering hall?
