I just wondered what people thought about the career potential for someone doing a strong degree at a good uni but getting a poor classification. I am not interested in the banks or big 4 etc I just want to know if a 拢50,000 salary at a reasonably senior job is achievable so I can earn a living and enjoy what I do.
I expect a few Mcdonalds jokes etc but I am after a serious answer. ThanksWhat are the career prospects for someone who receives a low classification in a difficult subject?
Don't worry. In this economic climate there is quite a lot of unemployment and trust me, you will get a job.
As for a poor classification, yes, it will affect certain job opportunities, but the fact that you go to Warwick (which is quite respectable) will help.
There are loads of people with no qualifications whatsoever who get into banking and get senior positions over time. Take some of the candidates off The Apprentice for example.
The most important thing is that you get the degree and when applying for the job, do well in the interview, as that is what counts, as it is your employer's view of you. Results are only a part of what you need when applying for a job.
Hope that helps. What are the career prospects for someone who receives a low classification in a difficult subject?
This is not my part of the world so my answer might not translate -
But here in the USA, once you get your degree most folks don't care what your grades (marks?) were. If you have the paper to prove your qualifications any exemplary grades are optional.
Good luck to you.
