Should I even try to pursue a career as a fashion designer?

I took a gap year this year instead of going to college, because I didn't get into the art college I wanted to go to. Since a year and a half ago, I have wanted to be a fashion designer. Before that I didn't have a clue. I feel like this is a career that just suits me and I have so many ideas. I want to learn to sew, I want to be self-employed and I want to do something creative, creating new and different clothing. I just can't really see myself doing anything else. I'm an INFP personality type and prefer to work alone rather than as part of a team. Some of my family are against the idea however, and I know that a lot of people say that people they know did it and are now working in McDonalds, and that fashion is frivolous and pointless. I'm not really interested in trends, what I want is to do something different and somehow make a difference. I know that my dreams sound far-fetched, but I do feel that I have the talent and intelligence to get somewhere at least. I think I'd like to run my own business. At the same time, I feel like maybe I should just opt for something more sensible and secure, but I just don't know what. I don't know if following my heart will just be a big mistake.Should I even try to pursue a career as a fashion designer?

My answer is go with what you believe , if its something you truly have a passion in than go for it, and when people tell you things that its good or its not good, their not the ones whos going to have the job , you are, so i say if you really do love it , go for it and dont let anything stop it :D , everythings worth a try :DShould I even try to pursue a career as a fashion designer?
