So recently I realized that high school is not for me. I don't have problems getting friends and bullied or anything its just that the classes are boring. I cant stand sitting in a room doing nothing but listen and wright stuff down that I know ill never use in the career that I would like to have. So I stayed home yesterday and did some research on the computer about a GED and showed it to my parents. There thought is that I'm running away from my problems and that I will never find a job, no on will hire me or that I'll be working for some place like McDonalds or Tim Hortens. The career that I would like would be a Computer Tech or running a small computer business. But to my parents thats impossible. I showed them lots of info on successful people with GED's on the internet, but my Dads reply is always " Thats from people in the US and its totally different in Canada". So I need some help. What should I do about this? What kind of job am I really looking at with a GED in Canada? Thanks ! :DHigh School Diploma vs. GED?
The same is true in the United States. It is very hard to get ahead in life with only a GED. According to a 2006 study done by the Bill and Malinda Gates Foundation, high school graduates in the U.S. earn about $10,000 more per year than GED holders or high school dropouts. I'm willing to bet that the statistics are pretty similar in Canada.
If you are bored in school, perhaps you can try going to an online high school. That way, you can work at your own pace and get through the work more quickly instead of just sitting there, bored out of your mind. Here is the website of a really good online high school called The American Academy. They have students from all over the world, and they are accredited, so your diploma will be legitimate. http://www.theamericanacademy.com
I hope this helps! Goo luck finishing school no matter what you decide to do!
