I know that guy was getting real desparate near the end of his career, and I heard this rumor. Is it true?Did McDonald's stop using the Hamburglar because he held a kid ransom for a couple of cheeseburgers?
That's something I haven't heard before but hey...ya never know.
Word around the campfire is that Ray Croc gave the Hamburglar the boot, because it had "criminal connotations" regarding his character. In some form or another, he was always "stealing" some McDonald food in the TV commercials. He was my favorite, he kinda reminded me of Alice Cooper a bit. Take care.Did McDonald's stop using the Hamburglar because he held a kid ransom for a couple of cheeseburgers?
They still use the Hamburglar. Robble, robble!

Hamburglar is still one of the core McDonaldland characters, appearing in the actual restaurants and associated merchandise. Despite this, there has been recent controversy over the image the Hamburglar presents to children. Specifically, parental organizations have begun to lobby McDonald's for the removal of this character because he presents theft as a justifiable means of acquiring sustenance.
