....instead of making money through things like prostitution, drug trading, robberies, hijacking, scams, etc, which all includes occasional homicides in parallel?
I mean there is no way a 19 year old kid who is living alone gonna be able to compete for a good job against the good kids who live with their parents, get put through college and get connections inside rich corporations. Especially these days when it's so hard to find a descent career.
What if the kid doesn't wanna live like a bum, what if he thinks that he deserves the same kinda luxury as other lucky families have? Obviously he is not gonna wanna flip burgers or carry boxes 40 hour per week, unless he has under 100 IQ. He is gonna go out and make money by dealing drugs and weed making hundreds of thousands of dollars. They don't have time or desire to care about all the crime and homicide that those drugs bring to society. They have their own problems to worry about. They want to live a luxurious life just like the others.
Why do most people look down on them? What would you do in their situation? Why does society expect youth to work at mcdonalds or be homeless...?
Well, if you think that you have to have all that stuff RIGHT NOW instead of working hard to put yourself through school so you can have it LATER than, yeah, I guess your only option is a life of crime. That is if you don't mind spending years locked up with guys that would love to turn your into their girlfriend. I mean, come on, do you really think that you will never be ARRESTED?
You can have everything that they have if you're willing to work for it. Sure a lot of people are handed all this stuff by their parents but there are also a lot of people who have made it big by doing all the hard work themselves--and that does not mean selling drugs or pimping. Why does society expect youth to work at mcdonalds or be homeless...?
Join the military.
Don't be so quick with the wise guy answer.
You don't have to "go to war" or kill anybody or get killed yourself"
There are plenty of non combat positions in The Army, Navy and Air Force that provide training, a decent salary, travel, health care, education opportunities, advancement and VA benefits after service ends.
You will be expected to "grow up" and be a responsible adult though.
They can go learn a trade, the medical field and technology fields are constantly growing... there is no excuse to turn to a life of crime. Why does society expect youth to work at mcdonalds or be homeless...?
Don't know what the job situation is where you are,but at 19 u are not going to start out Balling ! There many people in their 20's managing restaurants.A lot depends on how you carry yourself, your education and what you want,Wal-mart ,Lowe's, they start you off above min.wage and have benefits you can get grants that you don't have to pay back, there are jobs in the medical field that require lest than a year of training, the employment office has lots of traing programs that are free. Not every on looks down on people who work in food service jobs.I don't know why you left your parents house, but you need to kick your own butt and decide what you want and go for it!
I know what you mean. I moved out of the house at 18 and was working a full time job making minimum wage. I was in lots of debt and living pay check to pay check, and never got the chance to go to college. Wish my parents had started a college fund when I was a child because they gave me nothing for education.
From age 18-26 I pretty much bounced around between various $10/hr jobs. At age 24 I started to study the poker game Texas Hold'em. Reading books, posting on poker forums, playing for a bit then review every decision I made. All my free time was on poker. At age 26 I started to win 3 times as much per hour then my job payed so I quit work. 3 years later I still play for a living.
Life is great now, I only "work" about 25 hours a week. Best thing in the world though is not waking up to a damn alarm clock every day when you are still dead tired. Why does society expect youth to work at mcdonalds or be homeless...?
Well when I got put in that situation, I got a job at a local meat processing plant. The only unfortunate thing about that, is that I didn't take long to climb the senority line and am currently getting paid more than I'll get when I finally get into a job as a junior Linux admin, it takes away a little bit of the motivation, it's knowing that I'll eventually start earning more that keeps me focused. I'm actually banking on the fact that I've been working full time since I finished school to get me into a job ahead of all the rich kids whos parents gave them money to get qualified, I actually have it written on my CV that I can wake up at 5am every morning to go to work. (I figure if a boss doesn't think that's funny I don't wanna work for him)
