Will working at mcdonald's harm my chances of getting a decent job?

i've been a stay at home mom for the past 3 years, and off and on, i've been job hunting. because i've been out of work for 3 years, no one wants to touch me. i hold a bachelor's in english, and before i became a sahm, i was an assistant manager at kinkhell. my availability is pretty screwed because hubby works overnight, and with the cost of childcare, unless a job is paying more than 30k a year, i'm not applying for it, so i decided to apply for part time jobs to get my feet wet.

anyway, out of desperation, i applied at my local mcdonald's. i didn't mention my degree or my management experience because i seriously needed a job to help with bills, and i didn't want to be passed over as being overqualified. so, they offered me a job as a crew member. i start tomorrow.

now that i've gone into the details, my question is this: will working at mcdonald's harm my future career plans if i include it on my resume? i want to show employers that i am working, but i don't want them to think that i'm beneath them because i'm forced to work at mcdonald's in the interim.

and before anyone mentions teaching, i don't have the qualifying classes, and i cannot afford to go back to school to get them. also, the local school systems aren't looking for english teachers, only those who can teach math or science. Will working at mcdonald's harm my chances of getting a decent job?
If you can get on there it is a paycheck, it is such a waste of your great education, but consider it a survival exercise. When desperate enough we will dig ditches, and be the best ditch digger you can be. thanksWill working at mcdonald's harm my chances of getting a decent job?
I don't think it will harm your resume, although it would probably stand out a little. I work in IT and we were thinking of recruiting Jamba Juice employees because they know how to deal with people face-to-face and maintain a positive attitude.
i've heard that mcdonalds employees are highly regarded. apparently they have been very well trained or something. HOWEVER i think that might be more for younger people. i'm not sure whether it will be the same for someone your age. Will working at mcdonald's harm my chances of getting a decent job?
No, It can only help you get a better job.

Macdonalds provides its staff with a well regarded training program.

It is a great staring point for young people to develope a solid work ethic.

no it will help u if u worked only at McDomald for 5yrs after graduation ft that might look suspect or if u left a great job to go there

Thanks to bush economy sucks so bad i may also wind up using my degree to make fries until they figure out how to outsource that tooWill working at mcdonald's harm my chances of getting a decent job?
part time work is hard to get no I do not think working a McD's will hurt it shows you have the foritude to do what needs to be done.
Working at mcdonalds will not harm your career, its good for customer service skills.
Go for it... As an employer myself, just the fact that you are willing to work and do a good job is very important...

The key is dependability, Are you on time? Do you get the tasks asked of you done properly? How well do you work with others as well as your people skills with customers?

These are things that an employer would like to see. Not just what the job was, but how well you preformed overall..

You'll do just fine at McD's and Beyond.... Best Wishes!!
