Im going to the Army as a Human Resources Specialist. And in the Army you deal with people. like filing paper work. And when a soldier has a problem they come to you. But in the civilian world what is it like? And do you work for companies? What do they do? Do they hire people for companies? like if i was a HR for McDonalds do I hire people?? I looked at the answers on yahoo and nobody didnt explain it well? And is it a good career to have?What Does a Human Resource Manger DO?
One, I'm a little confused about the resources you've found.
Two, you'll have plenty to do (and to learn) in HR.
Human resources covers a vast area including:
* Understanding and facilitating organizational change
* Cultivating effective communications strategies
* Conflict management
* Offering coping and stress-reducing skills and techniques to other employees/officers/soldiers
* Defining team missions, roles, and goals
I'm sure you'll serve under a manager who will show you the ropes. If not, I'd pick up a book or two, or search relevant sites for tips and guidance.
If you want additional training, Villanova offers both certificates and a degree program online.
If you need a little more guidance, a good place to start is here: shrm.org
Good luck and thank you for your service!What Does a Human Resource Manger DO?
Dude,
HR folks do many things. Yes one is hiring/screening applicant for other folks. Start your research by going to the Department of Labor Occupational Titles. You can look up what HR professionals do in many different areas. Also, start looking at different job boards (Monster %26amp; Careerbuilder job boards) where you can find what the employers are hiring. Many of these jobs will require college degrees. So, if you are interested also look into school beyond high school as that what the competition will have.
