I am trying to help a friend (no, seriously, I am. It's not me!) find a decent paying job in east tn. She currently is a mgr at McDonalds, but wants more money and something more satisfying. THe thing is she doesn't have her GED yet. She will soon though. What are some careers that she could get into that take 2 yrs or less school. Night classes are optimal. I am pushing health care since I do it and make great money, but she seems turned off to it. So while nursing or therapy would be great, any other ideas would be appreciated. THanks all (with real answers anyway...)What are some jobs that pay well with little education?
Bartending, waiting tables in fine restaurants, and any other job that offers tips are usually quite lucrative, but, I think you'd best leave it to your friend to find her own way. She might not appreciate your nosing in (i.e., you said YOU are trying to help; you didn't say that she ASKED you to do so! If she's so concerned about her job - - which, given that she's a manager at a fast food chain, is a huge plus for her resume - - then she needs to find her own way, just as most of us do). What are some jobs that pay well with little education?
She could get a job at a care home for MR/DD clients, I took a two week course and started out at 9.50 but now make 11 an hour w/ really good benefits- the best part about my job is that in my free time at work I'm taking an online college course so that I can get a better job- it's a really fun job tho and I really enjoy it and think that it's a great in between job. What are some jobs that pay well with little education?
there are some tight diploma's at tech schools, some engineering diplomas will hook you up a sweet jobby-job when you are done. What are some jobs that pay well with little education?
a lot of places that pay better and don't smell like grease REQUIRE a GED. like call centers and such. you said she will have it soon; with her experience at mcdonald's she may have good opportunity. however, it's getting more and more competitive in the job search and almost everyone has a degree from a university, so she will just need to grit her teeth and bear it through some formal training. now, sometimes, a 2 year degree is all that's involved and you can get very basic classes out of the way with that. it's just such a competitive field out there.
although she might be able to get a decent paying job at target or wal mart; they hire teenagers without GED's all the time, so it might not be an issue for her.
it's very difficult job hunting; one job i applied to had 62 other applicants and i was in the top 4, and i was told i was 'the one' and still didn't get the job.
so please tell her to be patient and put in the time for education; that is great that she is in management at mcdonald's; it looks like she has a wealth of skills that will help further her career.
best of luck to her!!
